Magnum Celebrates Retirement

Facility Dog Magnum has happily retired from his life of service.  Magnum was placed with Hospice of Southern Illinois in December 2010.  He faithfully served as a Facility Dog at Relais Bonne Eau for 5 years while also visiting patients in their homes and other facilities.  Magnum proudly represented Hospice of Southern Illinois and frequently spoke in the community about his work and the power of Pet Therapy.  At the time of his retirement, Magnum was serving crime victims at the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Victim Services Unit.   Magnum, with his wagging tail and unconditional love, was often just what was needed to help victims and their families persevere.

There has been no greater privilege than to bring joy and comfort to people during difficult times.

Magnum - 2011 (3 years old!)
Magnum today (11 years old)  Just a little more gray!

Magnum's job description at Hospice of Southern Illinois read:  "Magnum brings love, comfort and joy to everyone he meets.  Magnum makes certain everyone from patients, families and staff are well loved and cared for.  Magnum's job is to listen to people, give them hugs, and make them smile with his energy and enthusiasm for life.  He loves to play with anyone who will throw a ball or run in the halls with him!  In his off time, Magnum loves to eat, play, nap, eat, play, nap (you get the picture!)..."

Magnum and I would like to say "Thank you!" to all his friends at CHAMP Assistance Dogs, Hospice of Southern Illinois and the St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office for their love and support.  Magnum loved working and playing with each and every one of you.  In retirement, Magnum continues to love to eat, play, nap, eat, play, nap :) !

Since retirement, Magnum and I have been very busy with both some health challenges and just plain enjoying life.  We're both in great health and enjoying life together today!  We will try to be more timely with our posts!

God bless,
Miss Carol
